BETWEEN SODOM AND GOMORRAH
CHILDHOOD I grew up in Pismo Beach, halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. As kids, we would joke about living between Sodom to the north and Gomorrah to the south. As young adults, attempting to follow the Jesus Way, we started to grieve about those cities and our culture. When I studied Psychology at the university, homosexuality was still described in our textbooks and the DSM as a mental disorder. Suddenly, in 1973 the Behavioral Board removed it as a mental disease. Many of us reviewed the studies and found major research flaws. The studies did not consider reproductive biology, physiology or anatomy as natural factors. The complimentary blueprint for the male and female relationship was dismissed.
