Biblical Library---Replaced by Modern Science?

Image
There are a host of respected scientists who are Christians and deeply value the Biblical narrative. They have cogently confronted the wave of radical anti-Christian arguments, exposed the fallacies and encourage respectful dialogue. "Science is  . . . a powerful way indeed, to study the natural world. science is not particularly effective . . . in making commentary about the supernatural world. Both worlds, for me, are quite real and quite important. They are investigated in different ways. They co-exist, they illuminate each other." (Francis Collins, Ph.D.,M.D. Chemist/Geneticist, Director National Health Center) "Science can have a purifying effect on religion, freeing it from beliefs of a pre-scientific age and helping us to a truer concept of God. At the same time, I am far from believing that science will ever give us the answers to all our problems." (Nevill Mott, Ph.D. Nobel Prize in Physics) "But the context of religion is a great background fo...

Biblical Library--Filled with Contradictions?

Image
As honest seekers and young Christians are perplexed by the wave of radical anti-Christian arguments, there are reasonable and compelling responses from respected Christian thinkers and scholars. From the inception of Christian life and thought we have Dr. Luke, the Beloved Physcian, who's critics admit was a world class historian. Then there was Thomas, the sceptic, who demanded empirical, sensory evidence for the resurrection. He took the message of Christ's resurrection to India, established a church, and was martyred there for his commitment to Christ. The gifted orator and scholar from Alexandria, Apollos, who carefully and powerfully presented the claims of Christ with authority. Priscilla, one of a number of bright and godly women served in the administrative leadership and highly respected. The representative from the Jewish Supreme Court, Paul of Tarsus, a highly educated anti-Christian theologian, who was radically transformed by an encounter with the resurrected Ch...

Biblical Library---Filled with Fairy Tales and Forgeries?

Image
If you are a student who seeks objective truth claims, Christian scholarship provides reasonable and convincing responses to the wave of radical anti-Christian rhetoric that sounds so compelling until it is tested. Critics of the Christian worldview pontificate that the biblical narrative is filled with myth, legends, fairy tales and forgeries. "For we have not been making up clever stories when we told you about the power of our Lord Jesus Christ and his return. We have seen his majestic splendor with our own eyes. . . we have heard his voice when we were there with him . . . so we have seen and proved that what the prophets said came true. You will do well to pay attention to everything they have written . . . their words help us to understand many things that otherwise would be dark and difficult." (Simon bar Jonas, AD 67) "Contrary to the exclusivity of Biblical Christianity's historical and theological matrix of Jewish monotheism and devoid of any specif...

Biblical Christianity: Truth or Delusion

Image
APOLOGETICS 101 If you are an honest seeker, curious skeptic or young Christian, there is a wave of radical anti-Christian arguments that sound convincing. But, if you adhere to the Socratic Principle to "follow the argument" you will, as Jesus said, "know the truth and the truth will set you free". I hope to whet your appetite by quoting respected Christian scholars who follow the argument, expose the fallacies and encourage respectful dialogue. A primary argument is that Christianity cannot stand up under rigorous scrutiny. Two introductory responses: "We are living in a time when certain critics of Christianity have abandoned all delicacy and decorum in debate. Rather than sticking to rational, carefully reasoned arguments, they have taken off the gloves to launch angry, sarcastic and sloppily argued attacks." (Paul Copan, Ph.D. William Lane Craig, Ph.D. Analytic Professors of Philosophy, Authors, Apologists) "The need for self-criti...
