Biblical Prediction . . . A Drug Pandemic!





The Biblical narrative is careful to distinguish between the medical, healing drugs and the hallucinatory, destructive drugs of our world. There are two definitive words in the Bible that clarify this distinction:




1) Sorcerers/Sorcery: Those who deceive through the use of magic by the enchantment with drugs. To deceive means to be deluded, fooled, misused or entrapped. Sorcerers are mentioned throughout Biblical history.

  2) Witchcraft: In the New Testament, it is translated from the Greek word 'parmakeia', This is where we get our English word pharmacy. The word means to be enchanted, producing of certain wonderful effects; overpowering influences of delight; the warmth of fancy. The context is the hallucinatory category.


DRUG ADDICTION HAS BEEN A SEDUCER THROUGHOUT HISTORY (Malachi 3:5; Galatians 5:20)
DRUG ENCHANTMENT ESCALATES TO EVERY NATION IN THE FINAL DAYS OF HISTORY (Revelation 9:21; 18:23; 21:3; 22:15)


The Biblical narrative clearly addresses the problem of drug/alcohol abuse in our world. It has always been a problem. The Book of Revelation reveals the closing events of human history. It predicts world conditions that are so stressful that people from all walks of life will be attracted to drugs as a way to cope. It's "magical" effects will deceive multitudes of people from every nation. It will be pandemic in scope. Christians will be despised and martyred. People will sell their souls for the temporary ecstasy for a drug high. The end result is two-fold: 1) a pre-mature physical death 2) an eternal spiritual separation from a loving Savior.


The Bible reveals that Satan and the demonic world are the forces that plot to destroy lives and damn souls. The only way of complete deliverance from the drug delusion is through the power and love of Jesus Christ. He came to give us abundant life and set us free from the chains that bind our hearts and minds.
